About This Business
Founded in 1968, Pioneer Landscape centers has 36 retail distribution centers and 23 quarries spread across AZ & CO, making it the largest retail supplier of landscape materials in the Southwest. Despite its massive size it is still run like the original owners wishes – to have the experience of buying from a small local business. They have a philosophy that no job is too small or too large, that the customer comes first and that integrity is at the heart of their core values.
Occupying 11 acres (the Twin Peaks location) and offering everything from sand and gravel to pavers and flagstone, from topsoil and decorative rock to metal edging and concrete blocks, etc. … and approx. 100 piles of different aggregates, multiple loaders and a fleet of dump trucks, I almost felt overwhelmed and wondered if I weren’t in some industrial complex that catered only to wholesale contractors. But I couldn’t have been more mistaken. Pioneer is a terrific place to pick up most, if not all of your outdoor DIY landscaping materials. If you’re looking for choices, then here is a place that lives up to the concept of one stops shopping. Toward that end, a customer can come in and buy anything from “one paver or 1000”. You can even bring your own bucket (like the ones you see at the big box stores) and fill it full of rocks for only $6.95. If you don’t have a bucket, don’t worry, Pioneers sells them too. I think they’ve thought about just everything you need to make your job easy and then some.
I found it to be a friendly place with a well trained staff that can point you in the right direction. Everything from their uniform of blue polo shirts to the neatly stacked piles and pallets of material speaks of professionalism. It’s like a well oiled machine.
Finding the Twin Peaks facility is tricky. Your GPS will take you to within eye sight or the yard but it will bring you to a locked gate on N. Casa Grande Highway. If you reach the gate, keep on going until you can take a right hand turn on N. Tiffany Loop Rd. Follow this around until you see the entrance to the yard (right hand side). Drive straight back towards a building (the office) that is located well inside the yard. There is parking at the side and in front of the building, with entrances at each location. You can also head down W. Twin Peaks Road and take the N. Tiffany Loop Rd. from the other direction and take a left hand turn into the facility.
They offer delivery services in the Tucson area. 10+ tons of material is free. It’s $80.00 if less than 10 tons. And if you want a flatbed of palletized pavers, etc. (with a fork lift to unload the material) you’ll pay a delivery charge of $135. They can load the back of your pickup truck or you can pick out enough material to fit in your vehicle. There are a lot of options.
So, if you’re looking for the feeling that you come first and you want a lot of choice, then it’s worth checking out Pioneer Landscape Centers.
