Acme Sand & Gravel

I gotta tell you, Acme Sand & Gravel is a wonderful find if you’re looking for landscaping materials & supplies that you just can’t find elsewhere.

We had two projects, one gardening and one landscaping. The gardening project required pumice. The landscaping job required gabion baskets (a wire basket that holds rocks) and the rocks to fill them. After what seemed like an eternity of endless searches of the internet to find both products, we found a diamond in the rough – Acme Sand & Gravel. They had exactly what we needed and so much more. And their customer service was fantastic. I worked with the owners son to figure out what kind of rocks we needed for the gabion baskets to give it the look we wanted. He set up the delivery based on my request and told me the office would give me a call when the truck was on its way. It arrived in the time slot he gave me and the driver expertly dumped the rocks in our driveway.

They’re a family owned and operated business that’s been around since the early 1950’s. What was once a typical gravel and stone yard has expanded into a whole range of products, some that you’ll be hard pressed to find at other landscape materials companies. Products like:

And for the DIYer, you can have them load your pickup truck or landscape trailer or carry out as little as a 5 gallon bucket (you supply) or sand bag quantities (they supply the bags at $0.79 each). Their yard is nicely laid out with bins and piles of material and neatly stacked pieces of flagstone. The inside of the store has a display of many of the aggregates they sell, and there is also an outside display as well.

I was very impressed with the operation, pleasant and helpful staff, the variety of products, and the personal touch of the family members. It’s high on my list as a place to visit. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed …
