About This Business
Horizon Distributors is a large USA supplier (located in over 70 locations in 12 states) of irrigation, landscape, outdoor living and power equipment products. Based on my visit to the Tucson store my first impression was that their primary focus is irrigation supplies, but they do carry a limited supply of products in the other three categories listed above.
Most of their business comes from contractors but the store is open to the general public.
I arrived to a nicely laid out operation. Isles were clearly marked with large, different colored banners, that told me what to expect at each turn. There are a lot of things to see here, all of which are well-organized and easy to find, including:
– bins of PVC fittings;
– pegboards jam packed with sprinkler and drip irrigation heads;
– shelves stocked with irrigation timers, control valves, garden hoses, herbicides, and PVC primers and cements;
– an isle dedicated to low voltage lighting (including fixtures, wire, transformers, electrical supplies, etc.);
– floor space devoted to rolls of flexible irrigation tubing, electrical valve controller wire, valve boxes;
– pallets of fertilizer and grass seed;
– power equipment – mowers, string & hedge trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws;
– hand tools including standard and specialty irrigation shovels, rakes, loppers, clippers;
– a display stand with their personal brand of artificial grass – TurfGro® (see website for details).
I found the sales staff professional and well versed in the stores product lines. They were ready and willing to help me not only with irrigation design/needs (including assisting me in picking out the necessary equipment to get me up and running), but also answered questions and made recommendations (if I requested) about the products they stock. And they’re super friendly on the phone. I called a couple of times after my initial visit to get clarification on certain items. Each person I spoke with addressed my request in a polite, knowledgeable, and friendly manner.
When you’re looking to purchase either parts for an existing irrigation system or starting from scratch, keep these folks in mind. And don’t forget that they offered a lot of other landscape related products as well.
