Started in 1938, with now over 1,700 store in 49 states, Tractor Supply Company (TSC) is the “largest operator of rural lifestyle stores in America”.
I went looking for an oval shaped galvanized container (also know as a “stock tank”) as a planter. These have become popular due to their decorative nature and the ability to hold a lot of material. Tractor Supply Co. offers them in a variety of sizes and in either an oval or round shape. If you’re handy and have the right tools you can even make them into a self watering container.
Unlike your typical big box store, TSC offers a lot of what they don’t. They truly cater to “supplying basic maintenance products to home, land, pet and animal owners”. I find their stores uniquely positioned to offer products geared to the yard and garden DIY enthusiast. They offers everything from vegetable, flower, and grass seeds to greenhouses, metal fence and landscape fabric. From gates, pond fountains, and fence posts to gazebos, shade sails and pond supplies, etc.. They even have clothing for those that work outside including a large selection of gloves, T shirts and overall’s & coverall’s. And if you’re looking for gardening and landscape tools, they have a complete selection of everything from gas (push and zero turn) and battery powered lawn mowers to hand cultivators, shovels and rakes, etc.. Need a gardening cart or a wheel barrow, they have those too.
You might be surprised at just how much they carry. Their stores are chocker block full of all kinds of products, some that you may think don’t have a purpose in the yard and garden, but once you see it a light bulb will go off in your brain and you’ll have to have it. And if you can’t find it in the store, a look at their website will amaze you.
There are two other Tractor Supply locations in Tucson (that have the same business hours, most if not all the same products, and operating procedures):
