SUMMARY:Curator’s Talk: WILLIAM LESCH | A Continuous Trail
DESCRIPTION:Curator’s Talk\nWILLIAM LESCH | A Continuous Trail\nwith Tohono Chul Director of Arts and Engagement\, James Schaub. \nJoin us in the Exhibit House for a discussion about our new exhibition\, WILLIAM LESCH | A CONTINUOUS TRAIL\, in the Main Gallery.\n \nFor the past 45 years Tucson and William Lesch have grown together. It can be argued that there is no one around Tucson that knows\, understands\, and appreciates Tucson’s beauty better than Lesch. Calling Tucson home since the mid-seventies\, the place has been a major factor in the development of Lesch’s distinctive aesthetic and skill set. An encyclopedic knowledge of photography – its history\, science\, techniques\, and processes – pushes him through every trailblazing twist in turn he creates – on purpose or by accident. \nLesch is never idle\, he is always moving\, shifting gears\, exploring new materials\, ideas\, techniques\, equipment\, technology\, and subjects. Lesch is never simply ‘taking’ a picture – he is ‘MAKING’ an image\, creating something that has an otherness to it in terms of concept and intent and an objectness to it in terms of its presence and physicality. A Continuous Trail explores Lesch’s career – where he’s been\, where he is now\, and where he’s going. \nTuesday\, February 27 & Thursday\, February 29\n10 am in the Main Gallery\nFREE WITH ADMISSION / FREE FOR MEMBERS

SUMMARY:Fused Glass Dragonfly Mosaic
DESCRIPTION:@ \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n$65 Non-Member / $52 Member \n\n\n\n\nDragonflies are beneficial to gardens and to us.  They are predators that hunt and eat mosquitoes.  They zip and dip and hover to find and catch their prey.  Some of them are quietly colored while others are vibrant and electric in their coloring.  Let your imagination take flight on your own dragonfly glass tile and paint it however you like.  No experience necessary and all materials are provided.  You will take home a completed piece\, each tile is approximately 12” x 7”. \nClass capacity is 16 – register early! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor \nDee Taube\n\n\nI have always loved art\, so while growing up I took all the art classes that were offered in school. I was drawn to art beyond being content to just appreciate it\, but during my working career making time for art seemed a luxury to be put on hold for the future. Somehow I found jewelry making and fell in love with it. It enabled me to work with color\, design\, and texture\, it was a great stress-reliever\, an outlet for my creativity\, and it nurtured my soul. When I became a member of an artists’ co-op in Colorado Springs\, I was constantly admiring the work created by the glass artists there\, and one day one of them offered to teach me how to fuse glass. I was hooked. Creating fused glass art has taught me to appreciate all art even more than I did before. It is always a learning experience. But when everything goes right\, the end result brings me joy and nurtures my soul\, as I always hope it will for those who see my art. Learning\, enjoying and creating art is an ongoing journey. Each new piece guides its own design and helps me grow as an artist. I love it! \n\n\n\n\nRefund & Cancellation Policy\nNo refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. SUMMARY:The Earth Laughs in Flowers with Pinau Merlin
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday | March 5th | 1pm -2:30 pm | Education Center – Classroom 1 \n“The Earth Laughs in Flowers”  -Ralph Waldo Emerson \nIn special springs\, when the winter rains have been plentiful\, nature throws an exuberant party with wildflowers as the guests of honor. The unpredictability of these special shows makes them all the more precious. This spring\, though the rains came late\, may still treat us to a variety of gorgeous blooms.  Flowers truly enchant us\, making us happy and touching our souls\, but their charms\, sweet fragrances\, beautiful colors and intriguing shapes are meant for bees\, butterflies\, insects and birds. Flowers and their pollinators have co evolved together in a rich interplay of strategies\, tactics and syndromes to aid the survival and reproduction of each other\, contributing to each other’s success. Often\, we think of flowers as passive in this pollination endeavor\, yet they are actively and deftly luring and managing their pollinators. \nCome join us for an enchanting lecture and PowerPoint show with Pinau Merlin to discover the mysterious and intricate natural history of some of our favorite desert wildflowers and their pollinators. You won’t look at flowers the same way again! \n$10 for members and $15 for the general public

I love it! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRefund & Cancellation Policy\nNo refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. A $10 cancellation fee will be applied to all refunds. Marylee will share her Beat the Heat Pillars for Successful Desert Container Gardens (Pots\, Placement\, Plants\, Prevention\, and Pleasure) to help you plan potted gardens you can enjoy all summer. \nMarylee’s books\, Getting Potted in the Desert and Riley’s Garden Oasis are available for purchase in the Garden Gift Shop. \nAll classes are recorded\, and you will receive the video and slides a few days after the class takes place. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor \nMarylee Pangman\n\n\nMarylee Pangman founded The Contained Gardener in 1998 as a niche business in the desert community of Tucson\, Arizona.   \nSince then\, Marylee has been compelled to share all that she has learned about container gardening over 20 years of blistering summers and record breaking winters.  Marylee sees container gardening as a way to have an oasis garden while conserving water as the demands of pots are far less than heavily planted areas and beds.  You can find Marylee’s book\, “Getting Potted in the Desert” at the Garden’s Gift Shop.  This excellent resource includes a month-by-month planning guide\, ideas for creating and caring for potted gardens\, advice on container selection\, and much more. https://thepotteddesert.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRefund & Cancellation Policy\nNo refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. A $10 cancellation fee will be applied to all refunds. No refunds will be issued for special events. We reserve the right to cancel Community Classes due to insufficient registration\, garden closure\, or inclement weather\, in which case\, participants will receive a full refund. People with disabilities should make requests for accommodation as early as possible to allow time to make appropriate arrangements. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUpcoming Classes\n\n\n\n\n \n\nArt\, Classes \n\n A Forever Flower: Blue Enamel Bracelets \nMarch 13 @ 10:00 am – 12:30 pm \n \n \n\n\n \n\nClasses\, Gardening \n\n Container Gardening in the Heat: Prepare Now for Summer Desert Pots \nMarch 13 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm \n \n \n\n\n \n\n2150 Club \n\n Maya Tea Factory Tour \nMarch 14 @ 1:00 pm – 2:15 pm \n \n \n\n\n \n\nClasses\, Gardening \n\n Growing Citrus in the Desert \nMarch 15 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
