If you would like to be added to the waitlist please email khayes@tohonochul.org . \nWith each “Call for Entries – Call to Artists” sent out\, Tohono Chul’s Exhibits Department receives numerous inquiries wondering “What exactly are they looking for?” \nTohono Chul’s Director of Education and Exhibitions\, James Schaub will address this question and others through a discussion that will examine the myriad things artists must consider when creating exhibition proposals\, submitting their work for thematic exhibitions\, and presenting their work as professional artists. \nThe discussion will start with a 45-minute power point presentation followed by a question-and-answer session that is likely to generate a lively and productive conversation. \nThis event is FREE and artists of all levels are invited to attend. DESCRIPTION:People have been using seedling containers for more than 2\,000 years. Some believe that planters were used as early as 500 B.C.! From then to now plant containers have evolved as people have developed further understanding of the plant sciences. From wooden boxes to clay pots to tin cans\, and to what is currently used (plastic pots)\, containers have transformed as the science has progressed. With new understanding we are in a new era of pots. These pots termed “fabric pots” bring about stronger more resilient plants than ever before! Join Tohono Chul’s Propagation Supervisor\, Jordan Collins and learn all about the science of “air-pruning” and how it affects plant development. This class will examine the history of the seedling pot and discuss the new science of propagation. Tohono Chul volunteer\, Pam Olson will also provide instruction on how to make your own fabric pots. This class is free with admission\, but space will be limited so please RSVP. Brought together by their devotion to chamber music\, TGQ provides a unique experience because of their eclectic backgrounds\, unconventional repertoire\, and approach to Latin-American music. \nLatin American Soundscapes (2020)\, is the quartet’s debut album. Recorded at the Haskell Recording Studio at the University of Arizona. The album emphasizes music revolving around traditional\, folkloric\, and contemporary Latin American themes. Featuring works by Juan Morel Campos (Puerto Rico)\, Julio Cesar Oliva (México)\, Marcelo Coronel (Argentina)\, Leo Brouwer (Cuba)\, Sergio Assad (Brazil)\, and Edwin Guevara (Colombia). The colorful trickster is often seen howling at the moon or involved in other wily antics. In this two-day workshop with Sandy Villegas of Luna’s Paper Designs you will learn how to make your own Mexican Folk Art coyote with papier-mâché\, and you will paint it with bright colors and designs. In the first session you will make a character from scratch with paper\, papier-mâché\, and paper clay. The following week (once your creation is dry) you will learn about Mexican Folk Art and how to design symbols and flowers for your coyote. All materials are provided. Masks will be required while indoors in keeping with Tohono Chul’s current Covid-19 policies.

DESCRIPTION:This outdoor class with Mary Carhuff is ideal for anyone who struggles with earth (floor) poses. Mary is a Certified Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist. This balance focused class is broken up into 30 minutes of seated yoga followed by 30 minutes of standing poses using the chair for balance. Chairs will be provided. All are encouraged to practice at their own pace and modifications will be demonstrated. Please dress in layers. Stroll the grounds afterwards and take in the beauty of the gardens in spring! \n$10 members | $10 plus cost of admission for the general public  \nStudents pay instructor directly | Preregistration not required
