I was drawn to art beyond being content to just appreciate it\, but during my working career making time for art seemed a luxury to be put on hold for the future. Somehow I found jewelry making and fell in love with it. It enabled me to work with color\, design\, and texture\, it was a great stress-reliever\, an outlet for my creativity\, and it nurtured my soul. When I became a member of an artists’ co-op in Colorado Springs\, I was constantly admiring the work created by the glass artists there\, and one day one of them offered to teach me how to fuse glass. I was hooked. Creating fused glass art has taught me to appreciate all art even more than I did before. It is always a learning experience. But when everything goes right\, the end result brings me joy and nurtures my soul\, as I always hope it will for those who see my art. Learning\, enjoying and creating art is an ongoing journey. Each new piece guides its own design and helps me grow as an artist. I love it! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRefund & Cancellation Policy\nNo refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. A $10 cancellation fee will be applied to all refunds. SUMMARY:‘Follow That Star’ – Tohono Chul Desert Players 2024 Performance
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, July 18th | 10:00 – 11:00 am | Education Center | Free with Admission \nThe Desert Players of Tohono Chul\, a live-action pantomime group\, are back this summer with another entertaining and educational show about the desert and the fascinating creatures who live here. \nCome along with Shadow and Eve\, two Lesser Long-nosed bats as they make their way home on migration to our desert from far down in Mexico. But wait…Shadow has arrived\, yet Eve is still missing. What has happened to her? Has she been eaten by a predator\, or is she lost\, or has she come to some kind of peril along the way? \nMeet familiar characters such as Night Eyes\, the Great Horned Owl\, and Ditzy Star\, who has fallen down from the sky\, as well as our two charming Elf Owls\, Midget and Moonbeam\, who all offer their thoughts as to where Eve might be. \nA mystical Barn Owl named Spirit may have the answer. After all\, he can see into the future and knows secrets about many things that happen in the dark hours of the night. \nStick around after the performance for a chance to dance and interact with the characters! Bat and owl mask templates will be available for kids to complete at home.

SUMMARY:It’s Too Darn Hot: The Desert’s Monsoon Season in Your Container Gardens
DESCRIPTION:@ \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n$36 Non-Member / $29 Member \n\n\n\n\nThe summer heat has begun but\, you AND your plants are tired. But you want something colorful to look at from your air-conditioned chair. Join Marylee\, the desert’s potted garden expert for this colorful program on container gardens for your desert home. In this jam-packed presentation\, Marylee shares what you can do to perk up your pots for the next couple of months. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor \nMarylee Pangman\n\n\nMarylee Pangman founded The Contained Gardener in 1998 as a niche business in the desert community of Tucson\, Arizona.   \nSince then\, Marylee has been compelled to share all that she has learned about container gardening over 20 years of blistering summers and record breaking winters.  Marylee sees container gardening as a way to have an oasis garden while conserving water as the demands of pots are far less than heavily planted areas and beds.  You can find Marylee’s book\, Getting Potted in the Desert\, at the Garden Gift Shop. This excellent resource includes a month-by-month planning guide\, ideas for creating and caring for potted gardens\, advice on container selection\, and much more. https://thepotteddesert.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRefund & Cancellation Policy\nNo refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class.
