SUMMARY:Fused Glass Butterflies
DESCRIPTION:@ \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n$65 Non-Member / $52 Member \n\n\n\n\nLet your imagination take flight while painting a fused glass butterfly tile.  Make them fanciful\, or bring pictures to follow.  All materials provided.  Tiles are ready to hang when painting is finished.  Each tile is approximately 12” by 7”. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor \nDee Taube\n\n\nI have always loved art\, so while growing up I took all the art classes that were offered in school. I was drawn to art beyond being content to just appreciate it\, but during my working career making time for art seemed a luxury to be put on hold for the future. Somehow I found jewelry making and fell in love with it. It enabled me to work with color\, design\, and texture\, it was a great stress-reliever\, an outlet for my creativity\, and it nurtured my soul. When I became a member of an artists’ co-op in Colorado Springs\, I was constantly admiring the work created by the glass artists there\, and one day one of them offered to teach me how to fuse glass. I was hooked. Creating fused glass art has taught me to appreciate all art even more than I did before. It is always a learning experience. But when everything goes right\, the end result brings me joy and nurtures my soul\, as I always hope it will for those who see my art. Learning\, enjoying and creating art is an ongoing journey. Each new piece guides its own design and helps me grow as an artist. I love it \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRefund & Cancelation Policy\nNo refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. SUMMARY:The Exotic Sublime: Land and Sky | Curator’s Talk
DESCRIPTION:The Exotic Sublime: Land and Sky\nCurator’s Talk\nwith Tohono Chul Director of Arts and Engagement\, James Schaub. \nJoin us in the Exhibit House for a discussion about our new exhibition\, The Exotic Sublime: Land and Sky. \n \nThe Exotic Sublime examines the romantic Sonoran landscape as viewed from near and far – magnified or mourned from arm’s length\, from distant vistas\, from out of this world. We are witness – in macrocosm or microcosm – to the effects of time in slow dissolution or methodical accretion; cautionary tales to join what this place used to be with what this place will become. The voice in between\, the creative and artistic resolve\, is a current toward the odd and wondrous grandeur of The Exotic Sublime.
SUMMARY:Surviving Summers in Territorial Tucson
DESCRIPTION:If your air conditioning has ever broken down in the summer\, you likely thought\, “How did people live here before AC?!”. There was a grudging acceptance that when May rolled around\, one had to decide whether to stay or leave the Old Pueblo for the summer. Historian\, Ken Scoville\, will discuss summer routines developed around sleeping outside and enduring and evading the heat like all desert dwellers must do. Travel before the railroad arrived in 1880 was especially difficult given the physical hardship of the crossing and the ever-present possibility of an Apache ambush. George Hand’s Saloon Diary provides a first-hand (pun intended) account of the distinct way of life in the summer including his first encounter with ice cream in 1870’s Tucson. Everyone had to come together to get through the summer while having some fun along the way! Although masks are no longer required at Tohono Chul\, masks are encouraged at this class per our instructor’s request.
