Treat yourself to a wonderful afternoon outdoors\, sipping wine\, and listening to live music. Seating is limited\, so please arrive early. The concert series is brought you in part by the Tucson Guitar Society. Please note performers are subject to change. \n\n  \n \n  \nAbout Nancy Elliott and Bob Bachen\nNancy Elliott\nHard to believe I have been playing music and performing for 50 years. I started playing organ with my Mom. When I got my first guitar I was off and running\, playing campfires and pig roasts\, weddings and backyard parties. My older friends would get me into bars so I could sit in with the bands. I played the folk houses in Dayton\, Resorts and lodges in Geneva\, and from here to there in California and Texas. Arizona is where I fell in with the Western crowd\, playing the same music I had been writing and singing for years. I now have my own little genre called South~Western Americana; songs\, stories and poetry infused with rich imagery from the desert South West. \n  \nBob Bachen\nAlthough Bob is new to the Western performance arena\, his adult life has been a Western adventure\, living the majority of it in rural NE New Mexico. A big part of that time was living on a working cattle ranch and a good part of the rest was traveling the backroads shoeing horses for the public. In 1983\, he started and ran the iconic mail order catalog company\, Wagon Mound Ranch Supply. This farrier supply/western lifestyle operation lasted 30 years. He then signed up with Mustad\, the world’s largest horseshoe conglomerate. Bob traveled the Rocky Mountain west as a traveling horseshoe salesman for 10 ½ years until his retirement in May. Since then he has enjoyed the opportunity to sing and perform with Nancy. He enjoys all\, well most all\, musical genres but leans towards old country with the likes of Lefty\, Merle\, George & Willie. However\, his strongest influence has been Jimmie Rodgers.

If you would like to be added to the waitlist\, please email khayes@tohonochul.org . \nThe act of drawing is the earliest and most immediate of all art processes. The awareness of its elements\, the line\, and the mark are universal. The materials utilized are ubiquitous. \nGROUNDS for DRAWING is an introduction to the principles of drawing: figure/ground\, the elements of design\, perspective\, contour/blind contour\, and composition. This six-and-a-half-hour workshop taught by Tohono Chul’s Director of Education and Exhibitions\, James Schaub\, is split over two days. Three hours on Monday and three and a half hours on Tuesday. A power point presentation of drawing principles will be followed by exercises in the gardens and on the grounds of Tohono Chul. A group critique will round out the workshop. \nDrawing is for everyone – it exercises and tunes the eye\, the brain\, and the hand. \nThis stress-free workshop is geared towards beginners while offering new insights to the seasoned draughtsperson. Each participant must bring their own materials. Any sized drawing book/pad will work; however\, 11 x 14”\, 16 x 20”\, or 18 x 24” pads are recommended as they allow for more freedom. In addition to a small sketchbook\, a variety of basic monochromatic drawing materials are encouraged: pencil\, ink\, ball-point pen\, vine and compressed charcoal\, kneaded rubber\, and magic rub erasers\, etc.
