Enjoy festive floral displays and our ofrenda\, a community altar to honor the lives of family and friends who have passed. Enjoy mariachi music\, crafting workshops\, and educational programming for all ages. \nThis year we are excited to feature La Calavera Catrina\, an exhibit of 8 foot tall skeletons depicting traditional Mexican icons by artist Ricardo Soltero. The large sculptures are located in both the Barrio Garden and the Legacy Gallery\, which also features an indoor ofrenda and a Monarch Memory Wall to write messages to loved ones who have passed. See more about the exhibit here. \nChildren’s Activities \n9:00am – 2:00pm in the Children’s GardenDecorate Calaveras de Azúcar (sugar skulls)\, craft monarch butterfly wings\, celebrate with La Calavera Catrina face painting\, and make milkweed seed bursts for your own butterfly garden! \nMariachi Performance \n2:30pm – 3:30pm in the GroveEnjoy a musical performance by local mariachi group\, Sonido de Mexico! \nPaper Marigold Workshops – SOLD OUT. Sandy Luna from Luna’s Paper Designs LLC is hosting free paper marigold workshops to celebrate Day of the Dead by making an iconic crepe paper flower Marigold or Cempasuchil to decorate your altar. This flower has been in Mexican culture and traditions during Dia de Muertos for centuries.
